Welcome to Istanbul – a glorious city uniquely located spanning the continents of Europe and Asia! On arrival at Istanbul Airport, you are met and transferred to your tour hotel. Relax and settle in or begin exploring your new surroundings. This evening, get to know your fellow guests over a welcome drink. In the morning commence your Istanbul sightseeing with a visit to the famous Blue Mosque. Then it’s on to the museum of Hagia Sophia. See the Hippodrome, site of the old city’s chariot races and round off your tour at the Grand Bazaar. How much do you pay? Don’t worry, your guide will provide a full explanation of the time-honoured ritual of bargaining! The afternoon is at leisure. The following day is all yours to explore! Sightseeing suggestions include a cruise along the Bosphorus past elegant palaces and picturesque fishing villages, or sip mint tea with stall holders as you bargain in the bazaar for goods laid out before you?
This morning, perhaps devote some time to the opulent Dolmabahce Palace? As evening descends, sail along the Bosphorus to start your overnight voyage. Arrive Mykonos mid afternoon, with its maze of walkways, winding streets, whitewashed houses, magnificent windmills and uninhibited nightlife. You have the option of spending the night on the island if you wish! Otherwise your cruise ship departs at midnight for Lavrion, returning to Mykonos late afternoon the next day, to collect those who stayed on the island. Sail on through the night once more to Patmos, where St John wrote the Book of Revelation, and then dock at the Turkish port of Kusadasi where there is the option of visiting Ephesus. The next day is devoted to Rhodes, ‘the island of roses’, chosen by the Crusaders for their fortified headquarters. In the morning drop anchor at the picturesque island of Crete. Perhaps take an optional excursion to the Palace of King Minos? Your final port of call is the island of Santorini, famous for its white cuboid houses that cling to the sheer cliffs. While cruising, Breakfast (BB), Lunch (L), Dinner (D), and Supper (S) is served on board daily. During your voyage there is also a fun-filled Greek Evening and Dinner with entertainment (HD).
Hotel: Marriott Day 10 to Day 11 - Athens, City of the Gods
Disembark and transfer to central Athens for a walking tour of the Acropolis and Parthenon, built to the honour of the goddess Athena. See the Agora, where Socrates taught, the Royal Palace, Temple of Zeus, Hadrian’s Arch, and the 1896 stadium built for the first modern Olympics. The remainder of the day is at leisure. This evening, why not opt for an evening out in the famous Plaka District? The next day is entirely free for you to relax, shop, bargain in the Flea Market, or do some further sightseeing. Suggestions include an optional excursion to Cape Sounion, where the temple of Poseidon rises from the cliffs above the Aegean Sea.
