ITINERARY
This tour is for the independent traveller who wants to spend time in the three most renowned capital cities of Europe – London, Paris & Rome.
A comprehensive half day sightseeing tour is included in each city to introduce you to all the famous sights and attractions, then there is ample time to explore at your leisure. You will also enjoy the added benefit of travelling by Eurostar – the high speed service from London to Paris – and overnight sleeper train from Paris to Rome.
DAY 1 – MON – ARRIVE LONDON
Welcome to London! After checking in to your hotel the afternoon is yours to relax. Or the excitement of this immense metropolis, steeped in history and tradition, might get the better of you? This evening you are invited to an informative meeting and Welcome Drink with your Insight local host.
DAY 2 – TUE – LONDON SIGHTSEEING
We begin our included sightseeing tour in the West End, passing Westminster Abbey, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, Nelson's Column, Downing Street, the Houses of Parliament, Big Ben and, of course, Buckingham Palace. This afternoon, why not spend some time visiting the capital's fabulous museums, shop in the department stores on Oxford Street, or see a show at one of London's world-renowned theatres? DAY 3 – WED – LONDON AT LEISURE
Today is at leisure to further explore London or for sightseeing further afield. Maybe enjoy a half-day tour to Royal Windsor Castle; or a full day excursion to Stonehenge and Bath – all these and many more First Class tours are offered by Insight's sister company, Evan Evans Tours. DAY 4 – THU – LONDON – PARIS
This morning we are greeted by our Tour Director who escorts us to Waterloo Station for our Eurostar Express train to Paris. After a journey of just two and a half hours, and having passed through the historic Channel Tunnel, we arrive in Paris and transfer to our hotel. Now we are at leisure in this romantic city. Perhaps take an optional tour of the sparkling Paris illuminations tonight? (Full Breakfast)
DAY 5 – FRI – PARIS SIGHTSEEING
Our included sightseeing tour shows us the highlights of the city, including the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, Opera House, and the immense facades of the Louvre Palace. We also see the 13th century Gothic Notre Dame Cathedral. This afternoon is at leisure to explore Paris at your own pace. Tonight don't miss the chance to visit one of the world famous cabaret shows for an evening of excitement and glamour! (Continental Breakfast)
DAY 6 – SAT – PARIS AT LEISURE
We are at leisure to discover the riches of this great capital. Perhaps take the funicular up Montmartre hill to the 'bohemian' painters' quarter and Sacré-Coeur Basilica? Dedicate the day to the huge collection of the Louvre, or take a tour to magnificent Versailles? Or why not purchase last minute presents in the grand department stores? (Continental Breakfast)
DAY 7 – SUN – OVERNIGHT TRAIN TO ROME
Another free day in Paris. Why not visit impressionist painter, Claude Monet's house and gardens? This evening we bid farewell to our Tour Director and depart for Rome on our comfortable overnight train with sleeper compartment. (Continental Breakfast)
DAY 8 – MON – ROME SIGHTSEEING
On arrival we are met by our local Insight host. On our guided tour of Rome we see the sights of St Peter's Basilica in the Vatican City, the Colosseum and Forum. Then there's time at leisure, with all of Rome to explore. A must for art lovers are the treasures of the Vatican Museum, and the Sistine Chapel ceiling. (Continental Breakfast)
DAY 9 – TUE – ROME AT LEISURE
A day for last minute shopping and sightseeing. Spend some time in the designer stores near the Spanish Steps. Perhaps visit hilltop Tivoli to see the water-gardens of the Villa d'Este. Or just sip a cappuccino at a sidewalk cafe in the Piazza Navona and watch life go by! (Continental Breakfast)
DAY 10 – WED – ROME
Your tour ends after breakfast. (Continental Breakfast)
